    Abbie

    From the Community Manager

Posted by Abbie Heppe on Jun 29, 2011

Welcome to our new site. I’m responsible for much of the content you’ll see here while everyone at Respawn is very busy working on our first game. I joined the company on the very last day of January 2011. True story, I got hit by a van while riding my bike the day after my final interview with Respawn and the next day I got flowers and a “Get well soon” card with a job offer. I assume they took some kind of pity vote but hey, here I am.

I come from the wonderful world of video game press having spent the last several years as the Senior Games Content Producer for X-Play and G4tv.com. It is fantastically interesting for me to see what it’s like working on the other side. I look forward to sharing behind-the-scenes info and news about the game with you and hearing your feedback on our future product. In addition, I love to hear suggestions about the kind of content you’d like to see on our site in the future be it interviews with the team, a podcast, etc. One small thing: I am absolutely aware of any and all feelings concerning dedicated servers. But let’s discuss that later…

    27. Newsletter and loads of vids on youtube would keep me very happy :)

Dev. diaries would be excellent, and a way for us to get to know the people who make our games, while we also feel like we are part of the game making process… The community might even be able to help with good ideas :)

    32. Bungie’s website is a great example of a what a develper’s website should be. Make sure the communitry is involved. Get weakly updates and podcasts. As a community, make sure we are involved and we know we are being listened to.

Posted by prower on June 29, 2011 4:50 pm
    33. Nice to see you Abbie, I hope you’re going to be well involved in the community and that your personality shines through.

And I hope to see you back on Feedback one day as a guest talking about Respawn’s first game.

Posted by timdemoron on June 29, 2011 4:51 pm
    34. Well, the gaming industry is watching Respawn and everything they do. We are all hoping you make some excellent games.

    35. YEAH ABBIE! Looking forward to seeing your work, missed you on G4 you’re one of the few gaming Jurnos I always respected.

    36. HI Abbie! I really want to work @ Respawn. Although I am in the medical field I probably have NOTHING to offer you guys except for a little CPR when needed and shoot a couple of xrays if anyone breaks anything…… BUT I would totally change my filed of work and be your resident janitor. SERIOUSLY! I WILL LICK THE CRUMBS OFF OF YOUR DESKS AND FLOOR! I WILL WIPE YOUR BUTTS FOR YOU…. I DONT CARE!!! I JUST WANT TO BE A PART OF YOUR MOST AWESOME DEVELOPMENT TEAM IN THE WORLD! PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE!?!?!?!?

Posted by neorpheus on June 29, 2011 5:24 pm
    37. if you make the apps and netcode as mw/mw2 it dosent matter if you have dedicated servers.

    40. Stat tracking and great gameplay, enhanced multiplayer experience

Posted by kristhianwolf on June 29, 2011 6:52 pm
    41. I have found one major issue in the forum ui, you cannot like/thumbs up when you agree with other posts. it would be nice to have thumbs up, and thumbs down but just thumbs up would suffice. this would reduce quoting/ re-posts due to quoting and reduce overall data usage on the website for the server side and backup data exponentially! please consider this. Steve

Posted by matiesh on June 29, 2011 7:33 pm
    42. ^^ i agree with Matiesh/steve

      welcome respawn! finally.

    48. Makes my day to finally see Respawn launch. And they seriously could NOT have a better community lead.

Not quite sure what Respawn has in store for their community, but I would suggest a weekly video roundtable where you and others discuss the gaming news of the week and answer questions about Respawn game news, juicy Activision rumors, and the release info for Kingdom Hearts 3 (just kidding about that last one… maybe)

      Posted by c5studio on June 29, 2011 11:42 pm
    49. I like her already yay

Posted by theroflboat on June 30, 2011 12:05 am
    50. It’s safe to say that whatever Respawn creates I’ll be buying…unless it’s a Justin Bieber song & dance game.
      Kick ass & take names!

    51. It’s great to see the site finally up! I got tired of seeing “jobs@respawn.com”.

(Feedback was/is the best thing on G4)

Posted by abbiesthumbs on June 30, 2011 2:13 am
    52. Wow, nice to see someone finally found the “On” switch for the website. Daddy likes! Seeing as this first game will probably be the most scrutinized ever, keep the updates coming. Lots and lots of updates. Oh and for sure don’t rush to ship it, take a page out of Blizzard’s book, release the game “When it’s ready”.

    68. I love G4TV.com and @aots. I can’t wait to see what Respawn has in store for us. I’m 99.999% certain I will not be playing COD MW3 by _________ [There is a remore chance I could be given a copy of the game and forced to play for copious amounts of money]
I always use to but the ‘Non” IW COD games and it was always disappointing as they were never AS good….Thanks for keeping us Posted Abbie H.
